According to old sources, the forge is the oldest building in the Herfjord area. It was built in the 18th century and housed a family named Berg. When Gunn and Willy took over the farm in 1989, the forge was partly dilapidated. The forge was fully restored in 2012 and has had a wood-burning oven installed in addition to heating cables in a new stone-laid floor. Originally only earth floors.
